Buying or investing in Battle-tested in Ukraine ™ products is the only way to be sure that you are making the right decisions for the coming wars, rather than the last war…
…Or even the war in Ukraine of a year ago.
It is also the only way to be sure that you are not wasting time and money on products that may be expertly marketed for cutting-edge features, but which are not actively being used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Almost anything can be claimed – and even believed – when the enemy doesn’t get a vote.
Battle-tested in Ukraine ™ is not a point-in-time certification. It is an ongoing, Darwinian-style process. Only the fittest products will continue to produce results on the most lethal and most rapidly changing battlefield in history. That is why Chenope offers different kinds of subscriptions that allow our customers to stay up to date on both what is happening right now, and what is becoming possible in the foreseeable future.

Advisory Services / Technology Partnership Facilitation
We connect our clients with the very best companies operating in Ukraine today, and help to facilitate R & D partnerships. This includes an increasing number of foreign companies whose products are being successfully used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. We can also help connect clients with research teams in universities in Ukraine and internationally.
Demand for the latest defense technology is skyrocketing, as more nations must contend with gray zone conflicts. The amount of technology of different kinds, even in “inexpensive” disposable drones, is much greater than ever before. The pace of change in Ukraine requires easy plug-and-play. Identifying the best components for products to meet specific requirements in areas ranging from Machine Vision to GPS-denied navigation can make a material difference in performance.
We work on a monthly retainer, with a success fee assessed on a bespoke basis.
Investor Advisory Services
In 2025, foreign investment in Ukrainian miltech or dual-use startups was approximately $130 million. Estimates for 2026 are close to double this amount.
To put this in some perspective, in 2022, the year of the full-scale invasion, it was well under $1 million.
Yet, many of the best opportunities remain hidden from Western investors. The most promising startups are often able to generate revenue rapidly from contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their primary interest is winning the war. They are laser-focused on creating the most effective products they can, and on constantly improving them. They have no time – or, in many cases, interest – in putting together Silicon Valley-style pitches. Indeed, very few would have the ability to do so. They also may not speak English.
However, it is exactly such companies that have allowed Ukraine to bring the war to a stalemate despite being roughly 1/5 the size of their adversary. Most are Ukrainian; a small but growing number are foreign companies choosing to operate in Ukraine.
As the investment amounts have grown, startups who are far heavier on business skills than engineering ones are becoming much more common. Some are outright scams. This includes startups from other countries hoping to cash in on the gold rush.
For example, recent months have seen an explosion in “testing tourism” by foreign companies, and tall tales about products being used in Ukraine. In the most crass example of the former, cross-border taxi services drive startup engineers just far enough into Ukraine – and just long enough – to get geolocated photos to post online. Alternatively, some of these companies hire Ukrainians for the same purpose.
Many startups claim that their products have been successfully tested in Ukraine, when they paid for, and specified, the tests. Left unsaid is what real-world value passing the test they designed has. Their main goal is to use the tests to obtain grants or capital in their home countries. Of course, there are also Ukrainians who can speak English well, and have studied Western pitch decks. They learn to hype their offerings, and can thus seem more competent to Western investors.
While there is a great deal of money to be made in the miltech sector in Ukraine, plenty of Western investors are traveling thousands of miles to a warzone to incinerate their capital.
This is why Chenope offers investors the following services:
- Investor-oriented market assessments for specific product types, for example, maritime drones, UGVs, different types of AI for targeting, and much more.
- Scouting for the best investments given the client’s particular interests, and either producing reports, or offering continuous tracking through our portal.
- Making introductions to startups where there is a potential match, and helping to guide any deal processes that develop.
- Miltech or dual-use startup due diligence.
Chenope has been active in Ukraine since 2019, initially for disinformation-related research. In 2022, we organized the Warsaw Drone Summit. It was the first conference to bring together the best Ukrainian miltech startups and Western investors. Today, all of these companies are thriving.
